BiTile

The BiTile System is arguably the most visually striking solar roof in Robisol’s range.

Solar panels replace traditional roof tiles, giving the roof a high-end, luxurious appearance. Black filler panels completely cover the roof surface, creating a slate-like roof finish. Edge trims are made from the same material as the filler panels, ensuring a clean and uniform overall look.

As a bespoke solution, BiTile reflects the quality and attention to detail that comes with a conscious choice for sustainability. With around 1,000 systems installed, it is a proven and reliable solution for long-term, worry-free energy generation.

System Structure

The horizontal rails form the supporting base of the BiTile System.

These rails are mounted on the battens with roof hooks and precisely aligned. The solar panels are then placed in an overlapping configuration: inserted into the rail at the top and resting on the bottom. Glass hooks at the bottom of each panel create the elevation necessary for the characteristic tile-style overlap. This also generates natural ventilation, which helps to cool the panels and optimize their performance.

In the width direction, the panels are connected with intermediate profiles featuring rubber seals and secondary water drainage. At the edges, side caps, end tiles, or filler panels are used, depending on the desired detailing and roof connections. Custom solutions are available for roof penetrations, skylights, chimneys, and dormer windows.

Solar Panels

The solar panel is an integral part of the design. To reinforce the tile-style appearance, compact Full Black solar panels are used. Each panel has a working width of 1,500 mm and a working height of 800 mm, dimensions that align with standard residential construction.

The panels feature 4 mm tempered glass with a matte finish. This minimizes reflections and prevents color differences, contributing to the roof’s calm and premium appearance.

Application

The BiTile System is designed for residential construction and can be applied in both new builds and roof renovations.

When installing BiTile, it is important to consider the fire safety of the overall roof construction. Although the system is built from fire-resistant materials, the electrical installation is carefully inspected, and inverters are equipped with safety features, an overall assessment of the roof structure remains necessary.

Insurers have specific requirements for the underlying construction. The BiTile System may not be installed in combination with highly flammable insulation materials or vapor barriers.

For new builds, it is recommended to use fire-safe roof boards. For renovations, the existing roof structure must be evaluated. If necessary, Robisol can implement additional measures, such as:

Fire-safe boards behind inverters Fire-safe vapor barriers Or a solid fire separation between insulation and the solar panels

This ensures a safe and insurable PV installation.
